We wanted a place on the internet to buy/sell/trade LOCALLY. You know, a simple, cheap, fast way to just sell stuff. No website really seemed to be able do that effectively, so we've taken matters into our own hands.

Here is how iLookLocal works: Buyers shop for free. Sellers pay a small up front fee for selling (no hidden charges). All communication goes directly between the buyer and seller, with no middleman. Powerful mapping features are built into iLookLocal in order to give buyers and sellers a general idea of where each other is located at - but don't worry, no specific addresses are given without your permission. That's it! The process is designed to be incredibly simple.

The "register" button is the first link on the upper green navigation bar. Click this link.

On the next page, steps 1-4 help you to set up the details of your account.

Step 5 allows you to select what type of iLookLocal account you would like to have.

Complete step 6, and then click "register".

Now that you have an account, you may continue browsing iLookLocal for free, or (depending on your account type) you may post listings.

iLookLocal has been designed to keep the shopping process as simple and direct as possible. You do not need to register in order to browse and buy items on iLookLocal. Begin by searching for items using the "search" box on the upper right, or by looking for items directly using the category and subcategory links on the "shop" page. Once you have found an item that interests you, you may contact the seller of the item by clicking the "contact seller" link on the bottom of the product page that you are interested in. The seller's contact information will then be available for you to use.

We would love to get you posting and selling ASAP, so we've made a short tutorial to help out anyone who doesn't quite understand the listing process.

If you are like most people, you've got at least a 5 megapixel camera. This means that pictures look great, however, it also means that the file sizes of these pictures can be quite large. When uploading pictures to iLookLocal (and many other sites on the web), that can be a problem.

We've made a tutorial on how to reduce the size of these pictures using a free program from Microsoft that works seamlessly with Windows XP. This program will not work with any other operating system (sorry Mac and Vista users - we're currently looking for a free and trustworthy program that will work for you).

Listings will stay on iLookLocal for the period of your account. You have the ability to expire listings once they have been sold.
