Local education facility is seeking 4 full time teachers for their facility in midtown tulsa. The client will consider multiple part-time teachers but would prefer professionals who can and want to work a 40+ hour work week. The Teachers will assist in planning and providing a stimulating and comprehensive learning environment for infants, toddlers or pre-school children; assume lead teacher responsibilities in absence of the lead teachers; perform activities meeting Federal Early Head Start and Head Start Performance Standard 1304.21 and related educational standards.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Comply with the education content mandates of the Head Start Performance Standards, program assessment, and work plans.
Assist in the daily operations of the classroom.
Assist with developing weekly lesson plans and individualization.
Attend and assist with home visits and parent conferences.
Attend 6 out of 9 parent meetings during the school year.
Provide high quality care in a safe, stimulating, and nurturing environment.
Work cooperatively with all school employees, Family Support personnel, and volunteers.
Build and maintain good parent/teacher relationships to encourage parent involvement.
Participate in a class-based management team meetings once a month or as required.
Assist with using the assessment software to track developmental skill levels of children.
Assist with required documentation including but not limited to: Monthly Reports, Attendance, InKind, Meal Count, Family Contacts, and Accident Injury Reports.
Complete the teacher’s responsibilities in absence of the teacher.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS: Attend pre-service, in services and other workshops that may include overnight and out-of-area travel as requested or required by Early Childhood Program management.
Meet Head Start Performance Standards, NAEYC accreditation standards and DHS licensing requirements.
Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIPS: Works under the administrative supervision of the Site Director and day-to-day task supervision of the Teacher III/IV and the Master Teacher. No supervisory responsibility.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: Utilize knowledge of modern teaching methods, curriculum development, and developmentally appropriate practices to teach children. Follow the NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct for Early Childhood Programs. Obtain a food handler permit, CPR and first aid certification. Must have proven successful interpersonal relationship skills to maintain effective and satisfactory working relationships with intra-department and inter-department staff, vendors, clients, visitors, and contractors. Ability to follow oral and written instructions with ability to read, interpret, and present information efficiently and effectively. Must be able to accurately audit records and ensure compliance with written or oral guidelines. Ability to take initiative, multi-task and work well under pressure. Must maintain strict confidentiality of extremely sensitive data, records, files, conversations, etc.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development, or Associates Degree in Family Relations/Child Development or a closely related education based discipline with 6 college courses that equal 18 credit hours in Early Childhood Education. Experience working with infant, toddler or pre-school children.
Degree Alternative: HS Diploma/GED and Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential (with appropriate endorsement), Para-Professional Certification (by education or test).
Credentialing Requirements for Teacher Assistants
§ Para-Professional Certificate: Teachers Assistants hired without an associate degree or the 48 college hours mandated by NCLB are required to complete Para-Professional testing at an approved testing facility within 1 year of employment.
Failure to meet credentialing deadlines will effect performance evaluations, merit increases & potential pay increases based on periodic market analysis; and will result in disciplinary action up to and including suspension without pay, pending policy council approval for involuntary termination of employment.
OTHER Classroom position with some local travel (exposure to normal traffic hazards). Work requires bending, stooping, lifting, squatting, kneeling, crawling, stretching, pushing and pulling throughout the day. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Regular and reliable attendance required.
